Tzu Chi Charity Foundation - Live Harmony with Nature, Being Prosperous with Sustainability

Session 1: Keynote Speech by CEO of Tzu Chi Foundation, Mr. Yan Po-Wen

In 2021, Tzu Chi Foundation declared "Net Zero Emissions", and took the lead among NGOs in setting carbon reduction targets based on Science-Based Targets (SBT). Tzu Chi emphasizes the role of vegetarianism as a carbon reduction action that everyone can participate in. With the goal of achieving zero carbon growth by 2025, halving carbon emissions by 2040, and reaching net zero emissions by 2050, Tzu Chi has been actively engaged in environmental protection for over 30 years. Through initiatives such as recycling and circular economy, as well as integrating esports and mobile environmental education, Tzu Chi aims to instill environmental consciousness in the younger generation. Looking ahead, Tzu Chi's efforts in carbon reduction and renewable energy will become more concrete as it seeks sustainability for all of humanity and the planet. It emphasizes that true sustainability begins with each individual through environmental protection, vegetarianism, and a simple lifestyle.
