Shell Ginger Story House in Chiayi City is Taiwan’s first tourism factory themed around shell ginger, dedicated to promoting green tourism and sustainability education. The annual “Shell Ginger Flower Festival” invites visitors to explore the diverse value of Taiwan’s native shell ginger through ecological tours and cultural experiences, raising environmental awareness. The facility utilizes supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, an eco-friendly, solvent-free, low-temperature, and low-pollution green process that preserves the plant’s natural active compounds. These extracts are developed into natural skincare products, showcasing the sustainable potential of plant-based applications. The site includes a shell ginger planting area and environmental education programs aligned with the SDGs, emphasizing sustainability from raw material to product. It serves as a key base for Chiayi’s green transformation and environmental learning.
