Introduction
Chinese Christian Relief Association (CCRA)
Since 2012, the Chinese Christian Relief Association (CCRA) has been promoting the “1919 Food Bank” initiative, grounded in the sustainable 3R principles: Redistribute, Recreate, and Recycle.
The program mobilizes and shares surplus food and related resources to serve the following groups:

1. Economically Disadvantaged Families
Through volunteer-led home visits, food packages are delivered directly to families in need. This reduces their daily living expenses and enables them to allocate more resources toward children’s education, healthcare, and overall well-being.
2. Meal Service Centers for the Elderly and Children
The food bank supplies ingredients to community-based meal sites, including senior care stations and after-school programs for underprivileged children. These provisions help reduce food procurement costs and support diverse and nutritious meals.

By operating with this model, the 1919 Food Bank helps reduce food waste in Taiwan while contributing to both environmental care and a stronger social safety net.
