Background

In 2015, the United Nations announced the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” and adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that clearly defined the direction of global efforts for 2016-2030. Over the past nine years, organizations worldwide have integrated the SDGs into their internal cultures and adopted innovative strategies to practice sustainable development. There have been many inspiring breakthroughs and success stories. The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) joins forces for global sustainability development. In 2026, TAISE is organizing the 5th Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) to recognize organizations and individuals that have dedicated themselves to advancing sustainable development and sharing our growth with the international community.

The APSAA comprises three distinguished categories:

Sustainability Action Award

This category recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding achievements and significant contributions in implementing the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Most Livable City Excellence Award

This category recognizes cities demonstrating excellence in building inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities.

03

Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award

This category recognizes senior executives who demonstrate exceptional leadership in integrating ESG principles throughout their organizations, driving sustainable business transformation and positive impact.

  1. To promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
  2. To raise awareness of sustainability initiatives among enterprises, governments, and organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.
  3. To recognize excellent sustainability action plans across sectors.
  4. To establish collaborative partnerships for accelerating sustainability goal achievement.
  5. To strengthen stakeholder engagement in building collective vision and consensus on sustainable development.

Key Dates

● APSAA Participation Guidelines

  1. Award Ceremony: The award ceremony will be held in conjunction with the SDG Asia.
  2. Data Authorization: By participating, entrants grant the organizer perpetual, worldwide rights to use submitted materials for statistical analysis, publications, and media coverage.
  3. Winner Obligations: Award recipients must allow publication of achievements and corporate logos for promotional purposes, adhering to transparency principles.
  4. Integrity Policy: All submissions must be truthful; any false information or controversial incidents may result in disqualification.
  5. Rights Reserved: The organizer maintains final authority to modify or cancel the event, with updates posted on the official website.

Open to organizations from the Asia-Pacific region demonstrating excellence in sustainability, including businesses, government agencies, educational and medical institutions, and non-profit organizations.

Recognizing cities demonstrating excellence in building inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities.

Eligibility

Cities in the Asia-Pacific region with proven sustainability programs and governance achievements may apply.

The Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award

Recognizing senior executives who demonstrate exceptional leadership in integrating ESG principles throughout their organizations, driving sustainable business transformation and positive impact.

Eligibility

CSO or equivalent roles in Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific organizations who have made exceptional contributions to organizational sustainability.

    Important Notes:

  1. Participants entering multiple award categories are required to pay the registration fee only once.
  2. For the Sustainability Action Award, participating organizations are limited to three project submissions per category. For example, if an organization has more than three projects in Environmental Sustainability, Social Inclusion, or Economic Development categories, they must select or consolidate their submissions to a maximum of three projects per category. Each organization will need to pay one registration fee plus separate evaluation fees for each submitted project.
  3. All participation fees are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT). Any bank transfer fees shall be borne by the participating organization.
  4. Registration shall be deemed complete upon submission of the duly signed documentation. In the event of cancellation prior to the registration deadline, the organizer reserves the right to impose a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations post-deadline shall require full payment of all applicable fees.
  5. Upon completion of registration, participants hereby grant the organizer full rights to utilize submitted videos, photographs, and textual materials for award-related promotional purposes.

頂尖永續長獎

由推薦機關(構)提送頂尖永續長獎遴選辦法暨推薦表(如附件一),其填報資訊如下:

  1. 推薦機關()資料及事由(可由任職機關()推薦)600個英文單字 。
  2. 候選人基本資料。
  3. 推行企業永續績效自敘,摘要300個英文「單字」、內容3,000英文單字 。
  4. 致力企業永續事蹟佐證資料,以簡報尺寸4:3呈現,頁數10頁以內,檔案大小限制為10MB之PDF檔案。

Sustainability Action Award

Evaluation Framework and Dimensions

The award is presented in three classes: Gold, Silver and Bronze. The assessment includes two main sections: Performance Summary (30 points), and Project Description (70 points). Both sections are assessed using these dimensions:

Entry Requirements

  1. Project name (max 100 characters) and project abstract (max 1,200 characters). Both character counts include spaces and punctuation marks.
  2. Resources used: Budget and staffing details for past 3 years.
  3. Project Performance Summary (Max 15,000 characters). Supplementary Materials in separate PDF (max 5MB, 6 pages excluding covers).
  4. Project Description (Max 22,500 characters). Supplementary Materials in separate PDF (max 10MB, 10 pages excluding covers).
  5. High-res project photo: 300 dpi minimum, max 5MB, landscape preferred.
  6. Project video link: 3 minutes or less to outline the project content, production quality will not be factored into the evaluation criteria.

  • Reporting Period: Focus on 2025 primaryily. Earlier data may be included as support.
  • APSAA previous award recipients: Use current-year data only, no reuse of content from past two years’ submissions.

Evaluation Framework and Dimensions

The award is presented in two classes: Outstanding and Excellent. Aligned with UN SDG 11, this recognizes cities’ efforts in building inclusive, safe, and sustainable communities. Cities face challenges in addressing inequality, climate change, and infrastructure while enhancing quality of life through SDG 11 principles. The evaluation dimensions reflect cities’ needs for participatory governance, resilience, and cultural vitality, emphasizing smart planning for inclusive communities:

The Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award

Evaluation Framework and Dimensions

Recommending institutions must submit nominations following the Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award Selection Guidelines. Scoring will be conducted across the following dimensions, based on the information submitted by nominators:

Entry Requirements

  1. Submitting complete recommending organization’s information along with a nomination rationale (Max 4,500 characters). Must include official signature or seal from the recommending organization’s head.
  2. Candidate Profile: Provide comprehensive basic information about the candidate.
  3. Sustainability Performance Statement: Include both a summary up to 2,250 characters and detailed content up to 22,500 characters.
  4. Supporting Documentation of Sustainability Achievements: Present in separate PDF in 4:3 aspect ratio(max 10MB, 10 pages excluding covers).
  5. Candidate’s Portrait Photo: Minimum resolution of 300dpi and maximum file size of 5MB.

    Important Notes

  • Candidates must be informed that they have been nominated.
  • Reentry is allowed 3 years after awarded.
  • The content must give reference to the criteria.
